God damn it! I finally got my Apex N1 cat back from http://www.aieonline.com on a group buy. I go to install it today and the friggin thing doesnt fit - its too long to fit the cat and I know exactly why. Because the part is for a 94-99 GSR DC2 and I have a 2000 GSR DC2. And I had a sneaking suspicion that the 2000-2001 GSRs had longer cats. In fact I even read this on H-T. But the website only has a part for 94-99. Im not a dumbass so I contacted BOTH Adam @ AIEOnline AND Apex to inquire if the part would fit a '00 DC2 GSR and they both said yes!&^!% GRR MORONS! Jesus who do you trust when your talking to the friggin manufacturer and they tell you their products will fit - of course Im going to take their word over some punk's on Honda-tech.
GRR. Im glad I waited 3 weeks to get something that doesnt fit? Im not going to pay to ship this back it weighs 48lbs!! And its not my fault I did my research and asked the right people. I even have the original email to prove it to Adam.
Is there anyway I can get this to fit? Basically the B pipe (after the cat) is too long, about 4" longer. Its too long to really push some slack out of the rubber hangers. Anybody got any ideas?

Damn man, that really sucks!
to the retailer.
Well i see that you have two options.
1) Get a JDM header so that gives you an excuse to buy a new high flow cat.
2) Buy a used ITR cat or LS cat.
You could always trim the b-pipe down, but i don't think you would want to do that on a brand new cat-back.

just sell the piping...there is a fair premium on them.
then go to a muffler shop and have them cook you something up.

sell the exhaust if u wnat to waxing the carrot.
i know how u feel. i bought an rsr for my 97 gsr, picked it up and everything. the sticker on the box said it was for a 94-99 gsr, but it was over another sticker(apparently old racing beat stock) i held it up to the light and it said ls/gs/rs. when i went to install it, sure enough it was about 2 inches too long
.
u should talk to aie about exchanging it. u shouldnt have to go through all that trouble because they fucked-up.

I called AIE this morning and spoke with Adam. He was very flexible and agreed to exhange it for the 94-99 LS/ITR cat back which SHOULD fit. Can we verify this will fit before its actually shipped? Adam agreed to have UPS pick up the old exhaust and ship the new one, free of charge. So
to good customer service at AIE.

I have an '01 GSR, my Apexi N1 exhaust didn't fit right either with the stock cat. It fit but the exhaust tip was tucked *inside* the bumper a little. I had a custom length high flow cat made that pushed the exhaust back a little, enought to clear the bumper. Four inches in your case is bad though
Here are pics of my install, fwiw:

I was under the impression that all piping is the same. Unless the Apexi piping is rifled or something as long as the inside diameter is the same he should be fine. If the shop has half a brain then the places where the piping meets could be attached in a way that could yield him even MORE horsepower.
Ofcourse if they do a poor job or use poor quality metal piping, then yes, he could potentially lose a little hp.

Update
So AIE is shipping me the '94-99 LS/ITR Apex N1 (#162-KH04) catback. I need someone to help me verify if this wil fit a '00 GSR DC2. I called Apex again and they said yes but I dont really trust them as you can guess.
I also noticed that the triangle bolt pattern on the front of the '94-99 GSR Catback B-Pipe, that didnt fit, was inverted to what I had and would not bolt up to my cat, even if the pipe wasnt too long. The bolt pattern on my cat looks like it does in this pic. Can anyone verify if the bolt pattern on the new LS/ITR N1 Catback will fit this cat?
