I wanted to weld the baffles into my stock pan. Figured it wouldnt hurt anything and be alot cheaper than going with a moroso. Any one have any info on it, pics or advice ?
Here's a baffle plate that somebody made for my 4th gen sump from sheet steel.......

Yopu just need to bear in mind that the 5th gen uses an aluminium sump doesn't it?

It's like why don't roll cages come with cars from the factory? They're good, but not needed unless you do hardcore driving. You need to pull some pretty good G's to get the oil away from the pickup.

seems like moroso or someone else makes an oil pan baffle plate that fits in your stock pan if you didn't want to go through the trouble of cutting and measuring but for the price i think its just as easy to make your own, and you still have to weld it in. But, unless you are going to the track on the weekends i don't think you will really be needing it. but its your call.
And as far as i know they have no negative effects. Its just to keep the oil around the oil pickup when you are accelerating "really" hard (for instance drag racing tho im not speaking from exp) instead of letting it slide to the back of the pan or something like that. In which case i think most just buy the aftermarket oil pans with the kicked out sump that is already baffled.
Reason why they dont make em baffled at the factory is because these cars are ment to be economy/gas saving cars that are driven to and fro with the quickest speed being 70.
We make them into racers.

Good luck welding aluminum.... With ARC (stick) welding it will look like crap. But with TIG it will look really nice... (but it should not matter about the looks.)
I don't know of any "weld in" baffle kits for an H22 oil pan (4Gen or 5Gen).
The Moroso pan is terrible for road racing or autocross, so if you're doing either of those, stay away from it (and OBX's copy).
I made a baffle for DR's Honda Challenge Prelude, but it didn't work as well as we had hoped. My next design will be more than just a horizontal baffle. Probably a diamond shaped set of baffles with trap doors. There's not much room in the oil pan, though, that's one issue to deal with.
Only the 5Gen oil pan is aluminum, the 4Gen is stamped steel.
Also, while it's possible to weld on a used pan, it can be very difficult and the weld quality will not be very good. Once you have the design figured out, install it in a new pan.
BTW, the baffle we tried was for a 98 with an aluminum pan.
