SH to base swap
okay tried searching but I'm confused.
My buddy has a SH 5th gen prelude. His motor is done for. Knocking. He wants me to rebuild it, I much rather just replace the motor. What do I need to do to put a base swap in there? So lets say I find a base obdII h22 and use it to replace the SH model swap, what do I do? What parts I keep what parts I need to get new what do I modify.
What about OBDI motor. Is it missing sensors like crank position sensor (b series stuff), or does it have everything to make run on obdII ecu.

It should be a staight swap Sh to base. The only thing different is the ATTS on the SH. They are the same motor otherwise.
There are writeups somewhere on how to swap OBD2-OBD1 in a lude.

I run a 98 Prelude H22 with a P28 OBD1 ECU, but I have installed the NepTune RTP setup. I did not replace any stock sensors. It uses the stock crank sensors and an OBD2 distributor.
You will probably need at least a base ECU, or a chipped (Hondata, NepTune, etc) OBD1 non-Prelude ECU for your swap.
Our other track car is a 98 SH That runs a base model engine and trans with a Hondata S300 setup in a P28. No problems at all.

for OBD2</TD></TR></TABLE>
well I can get around the emissions it's not an issue. The issue is how straight up of the swap is it. Somebody told me I need to suspension mods. What mounts, axles do I use?

Same mounts. Base axles, since the SH one's have ATTS stuff. No need to change any of the suspension, you are just swapping motors and tranny. Emissions stuff is the same.
