Default Clutch, pressure plate, or both? Shifting is randomly resistant.

On certain days, I notice that shifting requires a bit more force on my end in order to get the car into gear. As I tend to do a lot of city driving, I notice that sometimes third gear isn't the easiest to get into. I'll be at the end of second gear, clutch in, and the throw to third seems to hit resistance (just enough not to be a smooth engagement), and I'll have to force it in a tad to get it to engage. There's no grinding involved, however. Again, this happens randomly, but it's been occurring more often. But, on rev-matched downshifts, it's perfectly smooth. Also, it has had 2 tranny fluid flushes with FM syncromesh in the 30k miles that I've owned it.

The same thing happens to fifth gear, although less sporadically. I don't know the exact time frame, but I think the clutch should have anywhere from 70k-100k miles on it.

After reading, it seems that some say it's the pressure plate. But, my newbie-*** asks, is the pressure plate part of the clutch? Or is it a different piece I'd have to order altogether?

If it is the clutch, is there any way I could ID its aftermarket brand? The previous owner forgot which clutch it was, and I think it feels perfect, so I wouldn't mind buying it again.
