Default cracked stock exhaust manifold on a CX ,, options??

i have a 98 CX and the stock cast iron exhaust manifold is cracked, and it has the cat attached right to it, is there a way to fix that or what would be an easy replacement, not looking to do anything special as the car is stock , and staying that way, or as close as possible.

thanks

um,
a. you could go to honda and pay like 175 for it
b. you could go on ebay and get a header for like 75 bucks.

Some people have luck with the cheapo ebay headers. You could try that or go to a junkyard and get anohter cx/dx header.

STOP STOP STOP! Before you spend any amount of money on buying anything, take the car to your local Honda dealership, and ask them about the extended emissions warranty. If the Honda has less than 150,000 miles on it, and the VIN is on their list of vehicles that is on the warranty, then they will replace it all for absolutely free of charge. I am not garunteeing that your civic falls in the bracket, but I know that the extended warranty was on 1996-1998s, and when my manifold cracked, I went to Honda, they replaced it, as well as giving me an OEM tuneup! Good luck, and get it checked out before you spend money man!

thanks I will check into that! That would be awesome if it ends up that way! my car has 136,000 on it so the mileage is fine for the repair.

I'll have to cross my fingers!

I did some research and found that the recall only covers 96 and 97 for 150,000 miles, but some who had 98 and 99's were able to get there's done for free with over 100,000 miles. I guess it depends on the dealer, I also found a number you can call Honda USA 800-999-1009 and you may be able to get the work done , worth a shot I guess!

Since they won't replace it, imo i would seriously just go to a local yard and snag the part. They will not charge you much, and it would make me feel more safe knowing that I had the OEM piece on my stock motor and you could pass emissions, rather than a 50 something dollar header off of Ebay! Best of luck man, and sorry if I got your hopes up!

He also threw in the pipe that connects to the cat and muffler (the one with the resonator) is that pipe interchangeable with any model civic or will it need a little modifying? If I found the stock cat , I'd have 90% of the stock exhaust.!
