i have a 94 civic lx 1.5 auto. ive had it only for two weeks and it has ran great. but now it overheated. i looked under the hood and the upper radiator hose was ballooned out near the radiator and the reservoir tank was getting full

i put a new hose and thermistat on just to see if it worked. it didn't and now the idle hunts from 500 to 1000. also the upper hose gets hot and the lower is cold. the cooling fan also doesn't work.

it seems like there is no flow through the radiator so that's the reason i didn't put a fan on it yet, i was looking for any suggestions also i was wondering if i should just jump to an iacv or if it is related thanks for any help and i did search.

 

I personally have never done a thermo on a honda, but you didn't put it in backwards did you? Sounds to me like it isn't opening up, etheir that or your radiator is clogged up.

 

yep.. what he said. Check the therm, if not pull out the radiator and run watter through it at hig pressure. Make sure it circulates, and check to make sure you dont see debris come out of the radiator. If anything you need a new radiator.

 

is the iacv the same on a d16z6 as the 1.5?

 

did you bleed the air out of the system at the bleeder screw ?

 

no could it be causing the hunting idle?

 

yes it is possiable if the air is not blead out it will have a incorrect reading on the temp sensor and the eacv.
