your handling is not going to be great with all the rubbing you are going to be having! If you are worried about handling why not get the right size tire for your car but with a stickier compound!

It is a true misconception wider is better because it really has to do with how sticky is the tire!

actually i was thinkin the handling will be compromised cuz of the extra width... not rubbing... does it really rub that bad with 225? i have a 97 coupe

on 96-00 Coupes I have found the 215-45-16 works perfect. Not a huge selection but I does offer the most tread on the ground without rubbing. The 225-50-15 works on track cars with the fender liners removed and the fender lips rolled. But also consider the weight difference. Check out some of the manufactures spec pages and look at the tire weights the 225-50-15 isnt light, and works best on 15x8.

For 15" wheels on a '97 Civic Coupe, get 205/50-15 or 195/55-15. If you're looking to maximize performance, get the Falken Azenis RT-615 in 205-50-15. It fits fine on 15x7 wheels, and will give you better performance (on dry pavement) than any other 15" street tire, including ones in 225 treadwidth. (It's also notorious for being wider than other tires labeled 205/50-15, so it may give you the "look" you want, too.)

225/50's look like balloons on our cars try either a 205/50 or 225/45.
