car squeaks when turn on after changing alternator belt?
i recently replaced my alternator belt and now when i turn on my car, the car squeaks really loud. i thought the alternator belt might be too tight so i loosen the adjusting bolt, but the sound is still there. in the beginning the alternator had a pulley with 2 grooves which wasn't for the d16z6 alternator belt (3 grooves). since the alternator is still working and i bought the right pulley, i decided to bring the alternator to kragen and have them put the pulley on for me. now the car still squeaks. could it be possibly incorrect alternator or having the pulley changed makes the noise?
nah, the car is a 1992 honda civic vx with a d16z6 swap. i have no power steering belt or ac belt. only timing belt and alternator

brought the alternator to kragen and they said it is fine after testing it. any clue why this squeak would occur? the alternator belt is new so i can't seem to figure out what is making that noise.
hmm, in the beginning it was too tight then i loosened it, but still making the noise. battery and stuff wouldn't have the effect of the squeaking, right?
Most squeals are due to a loose belt. The battery and "stuff" shouldn't have an effect on the squeaking. The noise happened after you changed the belt, so logically it should relate to it.
Try tightening a little first, and see what happens.
