Default MECHANICS CLICK HERE! Weird shifter issue

tHey guys,

So driving my car throughout the winter, it was fine, must have been the fact that it was super cold stuff didnt heat up as hot.

Anyway, on these hot summer days, when I am cruising on the highway at high speeds, my 5th gear starts going crazy. it will vibrate, and when i slow down, and take it out of gear to put her in neutral, its like SOMETHING IS THERE? I feel something..

I can even be in the NEUTRAL position and just move it towards that sidewall where 5th and Reverse is and im smacking something??

What can it be? I just changed my gear oil to some snchromesh and its still there, it doesnt do it when i just do 100 -110/kmh... just when im driving fast..

Any thoughts??

Shift linkages? cant be my 5th gear synchro.. because even when I am in the neutral position in the middle, im still slapping against something on that rightside wall ?? something must be getting hot, expanding?

Thanks in advance.

Oh yeah,

I have an aftermarket shifter with bushings, thing is the size of jenne jamesons Dilldo.. about 2 feet long and is right about where the climate control features are...

Coukld it be hitting my exhaust??

Why is it doing it only when i drive fast in that gear?

Other than that, the car runs smooth as buttttttttta!

I haven't had much time to play with the b-series shifter/fork mechanism, but i suspect that it could be a bent fork or something bent that's throwing everything off.

I will say that there have been times when I have spent every free moment of my day for a span of a week trying to figure issues like this out. I then get frustrated and just pull the trans off and inspect everything. Regardless of what the issue (unless it's the shift linkage or shifter, which I'm sure you inspected already) You'll have to take the trans off and inspect.

Good luck and maybe some of the more experienced B-series guys could advise you with more valuable info. You can try Black R or gearspeedef7.

That is the first thing to check and make sure it don't get close to your exhaust.

go back to stock shifter and see if the problem is still there. Minimize your variables.
