Lude won't turn over, thinking it's the fuel pump?
K so my buddy's a tech at a toyota dealership and i had him take a look and we narrowed it down to a fuel problem. A while back I was running nitrous and turned my fuel pressure up to 48psi from the stock 34 ( which i know was RETARDED) but we think i might have burned out my fuel pump. how hard is it to replace the fuel pump? I know you have to drain the gas tank and drop it out to get to the pump but I guess preludes (or hondas in general) have a gas tank bolt to easily drain out the fuel. any help would be great!
well i know on my 5th gen replacing the fuel pump was very easy actually. Pulled the rear seats and removed a bar going across the rear and its right there no need to drain fuel. There is a cover with screws i believe (its been awhile since i did it) and then once you remove that cover theres a few things to disconect off the pump then you remove a few bolts right on the top of the assembly and pull that sucker out. Real straight forward install, but thats if its the same as a 5th gen.
awsome thanx guys! I already had my back seats gutted ( fiberglassing the rear) and was wondering if that might be it. I jus ordered a Walbro 255LPH fuel pump off ebay and it should be here by wednesday. I'll let you know if i run into any problems
K i've run into a problem. The nuts on the fuel pump cover are totally rusted and basically desinigrate when i start trying to unbolt them. What do you guys recommend I do to remove them so I can replace my fuel pump and get the luda running?
lol did u check your fuel pump relay? i ordered my fuel pump and found out it was only my relay and i didnt even have to change the fuel pump. i have a stock one if ure interesnted.

no, but i've already got the new one-plus i figure since i bumped up my fuel pressure w/o upgrading my fuel pump or injectors it couldn't hurt. But i'll definately check out the relay. Where's it located and how can I tell if it's bad? Is it like a normal 5 tab, small black boxy lookin thing?

It's located above your left knee under the dash on a LHD lude. The plug that goes into it is orange, and when you turn the key to the ON position, it makes a loud clicking noise, which you can feel if you hold it.
Unplug, put the new one in, zip tie the new one somewhere, and plug it in.
The old one is a pain to remove, I took mine out and resoldered the connections to fix it instead of replacing it.
You're probably better off just getting a new one and throwing it in there, leaving the old one in there, but disconnected.

UPDATE~ K so after a slight struggle w/ removing the rusted bolts and getting the fuel pump cover off i finally got the fuel pump out. but I ordered a Walbro 255LPH fuel pumps off ebay : http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors...d=1,1 which was noticibley smaller than the stock one. But i got it swapped in and am just waiting to grab the cover nuts from honda tomorrow and we'll see how it goes.
-As for the relay, I checked it and there were no cracks at all in the soldered locations. but it was a HUGE pain in the *** to remove it. so many wires and i couldn't get my 1/4 ratchet up there to get it and ended up just popping it out of the case .
