YES

They handle boost very nicely. If your planning on running 8+lbs of boost you should buy new pistons, the stock ringlands are **** and will be the first to go.

do you mean get forged pistons, and what are ringlands, piston rings?

Yes, forged. The ringlands are the grooves in the piston where the rings set into.

Any f series motor. Do a h23 head swap and add boost. The DOHC head flows much more up top in the power band. It will bump you hp up to 160 and torque to just under 150 ftlbs. Nice torque numbers huh?

Im assuming the head swap plus boost will quench your HP craving for a while. As of now Im in the middle of gathering parts to swap my h23 head on. I planned on building an NA motor but boost is knocking on the door.

Any questions IM me.

I disagree about changing heads just to add boost. Because engines are essentially airpumps, forcing in air through either DOHC or SOHC will not make much difference when the air is forced in. Additionally, I think the head swap raises compression, not a good idea when boosting. because you have to either retard the timing or add octane to prevent pre-ignition.

Turbos are great for making torque. Changing the head for torque is not the right way to go. Changing the A/R ratio of the turbo will have the torque curve come in at a set RPM. And changing the impeller Snail and compressor wheels will determine how much air you want to force in the engine at a given RPM (in a nutshell). Compressor maps will help determine the best turbo for your needs.

There are two roads, the NA or turbo. Turbo is the best kick in the pants. I seriously suget it over any DOHC engine. The H23's alone cannot make the amount of low end, flat torque that a well calculated turbo can. End of deal. As I tell any who are new to turbos, HP is just a numer to rate an engine, like volts rate an energy source. Touque is what you feel, it is what moves your car, just as amps are what shock the crap out of you. The earlier an engine starts making torque, the harder your car will pull on the guy next to you. If you make 200 ft lbs at 3000 RPM and he makes the same torque at 5,000 RPM, your car will be faster (given the same trans and final drive).

Not trying to flame you eric, there are easier/cheaper ways to make a car fast.

The h23 head swap is cheaper than a good cam01nd a decent tune..

Complete head 100 bucks

Used DC header 120+shipping

Intake mani. 40 bucks

used gsr lower timing gear 20 bucks shipped

Gsr timing belt 35 bucks

New HG 100 -/+

New valve seals 40 a set

Total:435 -/+

Since my motor has 200,000+ im going to rebulid my bottomend. So my list is a little more pricier.

Im not trying to start any conflict but am just suggesting this as a factor to increase the much needed top end in our cars. My f22b2 is pretty dead after 5000 rpms.

i think you should do the h23 head swap unless you have a f22a motor, then keep the head, the heads on the f22a are really free flowing and good, although i would definetyl go ahead and swap the intake manifold and throttle body from the h23, thats where u gonna get most of the power, 10-15 whp from the intake manifold. Its just all around better than the stock one. I do recommend get new pistons, and a engine rebuild kit, and a badass tune, the tune will make or break the car, no matter how badass of a turbo, or internals you have
