Bent rim=brakes squeaking?
can a bent rim cause breaks to squeak? i get this hi-pitched squeak when i push on the brakes slowly but if i push down hard they are fine. My brake pads are still good. i dont know if there is a rock stuck in between the pads or if there is something wrong on my calipers
i dont think the bent rim itself would affect the brakes in any way. Unless it is physically interfering with the operation of the brakes. However the squeaking could in some other way be attributed to the bent rim.
each tire has two pads. one on inside and one on outside. any one of those pads are worn (8 total on your car) your going to hear squeaking (metal on metal)
depending on the actual sound of the squeak it could be two things one of which you have already ruled out
1. worn brake pads , wear indicator making noise.
2. some brands of disc brake pads become noisy through their service life and cause squealing these sounds can usually be quieted by doing a few simple things when installing the pads
a. chamfer the ends of your brake pads ,about 1/4" on either side.
b.use either caliper grease or anti-seize compound on caliper bolts and slides.
c. use disc brake quiet on the back of the pads where they contact the caliper.
d. make sure to install the anti rattle clips that come with the new set of pads (if applicable.
hope this info helps.

yeah x2 @ 2 b. If cylinders arn't opening they keep making contact making the noise, but the squaking is metal on metal so that means pads are warn too most likely
