knock sensor CEL =bad peformance?
well i just came back from a few runs and noticed that my CEL came on during halfway through the runs. like around second gear. its my knock sensor. will driving with this CEL affect my performance? cuz i was murdered out there tonight!
yes yes yes....
you should experience extreme bogging / hesitation between 2-3.5k RPM. It will almost feel like your engine isn't getting fuel but once you get to high enough RPMs it feels like normal. If you're racing you might not notice it sticking in high RPMs constantly, but normal driving and you'd definitely be able to tell.
atleast this is what happened to me when my knock sensor slipped out on my 92 h23. might have different results if you have a faulty sensor as opposed to it being detached... but the clip on the sensor is a POS so i'd make sure yours is attached and see if the CEL goes away.
