Default Rear sway bar options - 26mm+

What manufacturers offer rear itr sway bars that are 26mm or larger... adjustable or non-adjustable? I know there is Mugen, but I'm not interested in paying for the name and the marketing hype that surrounds it. No need to tell me how much oversteer, etc. this is for a track only car with very high spring rates (1,000 lb+).

cheers

Right... It's hard to find the Mugen 26mm anyway. A Spec Racing (ASR) makes a 32mm adjustable one, you can purchase it from King.

I believe ASR makes about the only bar that is 26 mm + stiff other than Mugen. If 25 mm will work for you - look at the Cusco non-adjustable for about $250.

What's so hard to believe? You can see from his avatar that it's a race car.....

Alex Motorsports also makes a 25mm Rear sway bar.. Its pricey, at $380, but if you want it, price doesn't matter...right? Personally, I'd like to try it out.

The ASR 32mm bar is hallow. It is not as stiff as you might think. Of course depending on a lot of other factors, torsional stiffness should be about the same as a 25mm,26mm solid bar

Going for the 1/4" wall thickness which does make a significant difference.

lol who says hollow bars are "less sitffer" than solid?

go study some more of strength of materials

I do. see for your self

Although they are lighter weight. Holow sway bars have to have a much larger OD to have the same torsional strenght/stiffness that a solid sway bar with a much smaller OD would have

Torsional stiffness is determined by

Do: Outside Diameter
Di: Inside Diameter

Do^4 and Di^4

So for a solid bar the factor is Do^4

For a hollow bar it's (Do^4 - Di^4)

Then just compare the two (Do^4 - Di^4) hollow/Do^4 solid

So a 32mm OD bar with a 2mm wall is 11% stiffer than a 25mm solid bar. Change the wall thickness to 3mm and the hollow bar is now 51% stiffer.

Bottom line: small diameter bars and the core of large diameter solid bars do very little.

Go ASR.

Like i said earlier the 32mm hallow bar is about the same stiffness as a 25-26mm solid bar

No it's not. Do the math.

The ASR 32mm bar has a wall thickness of 2.5mm so it's 32.4% stiffer than the 25mm solid bar and 13.2% stiffer than a 26mm bar. Also the solid bars weigh about 2x that of the hollow bar. So if you want something that's less stiff and weighs alot more than go with a solid bar.

The ASR 32mm bar has a wall thickness of 2.5mm so it's 32.4% stiffer than the 25mm solid bar and 13.2% stiffer than a 26mm bar. Also the solid bars weigh about 2x that of the hollow bar. So if you want something that's less stiff and weighs alot more than go with a solid bar.</TD></TR></TABLE>

So in short, ASR ftmfw!!11

Shame on me for not doing my research on the ASR bar. I had no idea the wall thickness was 2.5mm
