Damn cursed Yellow CRX's...
Hey guys, I've run into MORE problems with my car, yet again...
I posted a topic a few days ago about "electrical shorts"... turns out it was just a bad ground on the negative battery cable we forgot to tighten up
. However, more problems have arisen. After I fixed this, it started up and ran fine. However, now it just cranks, and it won't start. Well, it started once, but died, and it wouldn't start again. What could be causing this? there are no codes...
My next problem: I can move the trans in and out of gear when the car is off, but when I start it, it is next to impossible to select gears.. I know the clutch is really out of adjustment, but is this the only thing that could be causing this? any help at all??? grrrrrrrrrr damn hexed yellow Y49's!!!!

without seeing your car, your starting/stalling problem is most definalty a bad ignitor. ALL eary 90s/late 80s hondas have defective ignitors, its just a mater of time before they fail. Of course, it could be MANY different things, but that would be my first guess.
About the trans, First make sure its full of fluid. Check the adjustment in the cable, you should have about a half inch of play in your peddle. To adjust it, use this easy trick:
In the engine bay, just grab the cable by hand and pull all the slack out of it (right where the adjuster nut is). Then just adjust the black plastic nut all the way down until it touches the perch, but no further. That will get it perfect 99% of the time.
The problem almost definatly comes from the shift drum. Might be partially seived... if i had a diagram i could point it out. Basically the part that moves teh gears around so different sets mesh.

It's funny... I just went and started it 10 minutes later... No problem! stopped and started it a few times again, no problems! hmmmmmm... BTW, it's not a D16A6, it's a 96' D16Y8... do they also have bad ignitors?
Yeah I think I'll try adjusting that cable... I know that's out of adjustment, but the ranny is full of fluid. Thanks for the help everyone, hopefully this'll be sorted out tonight
