Default safe with cams?

heres the facts:
'90 crx
stock jdm b16 bottom end
jdm b16 head, good springs and light retainers.
98 gsxr itb's
tuned on crome pro.

I have skunk2 pro1+ cams, chilling in a box with various other rebuild parts. Im not rebuilding yet, but I want to run the cams. i know that without a re-tune it wont run to full potential, but will it be safe? I do not own a wideband, and I want to know if it will lean out. I wouldnt be so scared, but itb's are funny like that. those of you who have dealt with them (itb's), you know what I mean.

thanks to anyone who can help.

i dont see any serious issues with this setup. Its not a very high lift cam.

You could do it, but the pro 1s should have upgraded valve train at least, also they will be wanting more compression.

Good things come to those who wait. I wouldn't do it just to do it, time would be better spent washing your car then camming with out tuning.

If you have the valvetrain and cam gears already in then plop them cams in. You will be ok as long as you don't try to beat on the motor until after the tune.

thanks for all the input, first of all. I appreciate it. Im running type r outer with portflow inner valve springs, and jun retainers. stock b16 valves. I plan on pulling the motor and going thruogh it soon, I have a place lined up that specializes in honda cyl. heads with a flowbench. I know the cams are going to want more compression, and the itb's are almost useless without a serious port and polish (i dont want to hear any argument about that one, I know what Ive seen---everything from hondas to bimmers to porsche's with the nicest twm's...) I just wanted to run around with the pro 1+'s for a while b4 everything is changed, and I HAVE to re-tune. once again, all the input is really helpful- thanks and keep it coming.

Sell your springs and retainers and get something that can handle more lift, rocket motorsports, omnipower, supertech, ect. The lift on the pro ones is almost the peak lift that the portflow inner/itr outers can take, thats if you are running all itr intake outer springs

Since I didnt do my research

Pro 1: High Lift Street/Race cam designed to optimize mid-range and top end HP and TQ. Peak power is designed to occur at factory redline. Pro 1 cams also perform great in high-output turbo racing engines. VALVETRAIN UPGRADE REQUIRED. Pro-Series valvetrain recommended.
