Default new to teg's go easy on me

well guys, i totaled my 03 si... so now im looking into a 2000 integra LS

can anyone tell me anything about the engine, the car im looking at has intake/headers/exhaust, is it still slow as hell or is it somthing to work off of. does the 2000 ls have a v-tec engine or not? is it completely stupid to buy a teg if it isnt a gs-r?

sorry for the noob questions. *flame suit on* but thanks guys... need a car soon

Dude.. Dont go from an SI to a LS... Buy a GSr and be much happier.

Or why not a B16 SI?

Dont spend a ton of money on a 2000 LS and have too spend more to make it fast.

Buy an 07 Si My buddy has one and.. I can assure you, you WILL NOT be dissapointed

it has no potential unless you slap a turbo or vtec head on it, the latter i do not recommend

its not that fast, mid 15's prolly

You can find 98 GS-Rs in SoCal for like $8,000 or $9,000.

a '00 LS is most likely in better shape than an older GSR...honestly if i were to pick from a nice LS vs a somewhat beat down gsr i would take the LS...its not like the thing has no hope because there are many fast LS tegs out there(mostly boosted of course)...the '98-01 body is much cleaner than the '94-97, it will have less miles, and overall if properly maintained will be in better condition

im not saying all of the older GSRs are crap(i own one myself) but a newer car is usually in better condition...i like the LS mainly because replacing parts or the whole motor itself would be much cheaper if something were to happen

IT DEPENDS u r probably used to a new style car having had a 03 si. but if had at least 7to 8k to spend 92-95 cx hatch because it is soooo lite. a ( K) series then you'll be stupid fast all motor and dependable. just my opinion.

It would cost 8k to put together a k-swapped EG. Not to mention the cost of a clean EG.

To the OP.
A I/H/E LS is still slow as hell. Not that a stock GSR is ***** fast anyway.

buy a nice ocndition cheap ls and slap a turbo kit on there.

you could do that for less than 10k, and be faster than any other version of an integra or civic or whatever.

if that LS is at a decent price go for it. LS's have a lot potential but of course not as much as GSR's, you just gotta know what to do with it. I had a Ls once and I was beating a lot of close to stock cars and once in awhile turbo'd cars and I only had the basics on it. Now i have a GSR which I believe I can get that into the high 14's with the basic stuff and a Skunk2 IM w/ P73 ecu. There is my story so i guess you can go off of that.

I/h/e are the first offs for any integra. work from that..the LS has alot of potential to be a quick car. thats why i bought mine. plus parts are cheaper...slap a Turbo..and itll be better then any GSR/Civic.

the LS isnt Vtec. but you can build what they call an LS-Vtec..or do an engine swap..

there not slow either.. IMO..ive drievn other cars..i love mine the most.

but if you want the GSR..id try and find one..if not an LS is sufficient. Get a cheap LS..and build it!

dont forget to check KBB/Nada for values based on the condition/mileage/options on the car. dont over pay. just becuase it has I/H/E doesnt mean you need to pay a fortune. Make sure if you in CA..the parts have carb stickers.

whats the asking price on this LS? whats the mileage? any thing besides I/H/E?

go to team-integra.net too..read their articles

depending on how much u have to spend...buy the NEWER car over the OLDER..the newer will be probly in better shape

I bought my GSR almost two years ago for $9,900 with 44,000 miles. However, an LS will have better insurance rates.

well the one i was looking at was a 2000 teg ls, with 70k miles for 7,500 . i figured i could get it for cheaper, the body was clean hardly any dents or flaws, its silver pretty much stock besides i/he/ex

as far as the gsr goes, do they only take premium gas like the 2000 si, or can you put 87 in it, gas price is becomming more and more of a factor for me considering i will be doing a decent amount of driving in my next car

That LS seems a little high. Premium unleaded only.

I would look for an OBD1 GSR if I was you. (94-95) I just got a 95 for about 6k, mint. With the extra cash you can put some ok susp on it and maybe get a nice turbo kit togethor, or atleat have a good start. Turbo GSR FTMFW! Can't go wrong. LS's are ok, but take much more work to make decently quick.

The ls is pretty slow even if it has those basic bolt ons. That shouldnt stop you from getting the car. I just picked up a 99 LS on 71k miles for 6.6k and I could always just drop another 3k into a decent tubo kit. All togheter it will cost a little more than a GSR but defiantly more faster. But I dont care for speed as much as i do for handling so that is one of my last things on my list.

I say civic because to me it is a better platform as far building a good JDM/RACE CAR but that is my OP. But if you are looking for a DAILY DRIVER and want a car already with a B series motor then get a TEG. I own a DA, but i don't like the abs,and the weight, but I LOVE THE BODY STYLE so I can stand the rest.YOUR CHOICE, YOUR CASH, SPEND IT ON WHAT YOU LIKE!! JUST M.O.P!!

I also have a Silver 2000 LS. i know i don't not have the power that a GS-R has but IT IS an Integra, which means there are infinite amount of possibilities. if you have a good deal on a LS you should take it. It's a great car! a turbo or swap in the future and your good. Plus the LS takes 87 fuel which might help in the daily driver role. But like evryone else says, it IS your money, and YOU will have the last say! Goodluck with your choice!
