Default What spark plugs are the best

2001 Honda Accord EX 4dr 4cyl ULEV.

I did a search but did not find much.

I'm at 104,000 Miles on the odometer and I believe it is time for a tune-up--which would include spark plugs. What are the best spark plugs for a ULEV engine? And where can I get them? (Hopefully Autozone or PepBoys).

PZR6FXI-11 - NGK Irridium plugs. Set the gap at .036" You'll increase your fuel economy, slight power increase, and less emissions.

However, if uoi want the OEM replacement number, its NGK PZR5F-11

NGK coppers. The iridiums aren't worth the money because they burn up pretty quick.

Set the gap at .036" --how do i set the gap? Do they come w/ a 0.36 gap or do i set it manually and if I set it manually is there a way to measure it or something?

You buy the little spark plug gapper from any auto store for about $1. The most common gapper is a round one looking like a large coin. You open it wider by prying it open or knock it down to make the gap smaller.

On my parents 01 LX ULEV, we used some Bosch +2 spark plugs. Works awesome. Compared to the OEM, it gave so much more power. I don't get why people hate Bosch, but it is good. So far, its great. But hey, if you wanna be on the safe side, OEM or similar.

we've all had great experiance with the stock NGK coppers, and some have claimed reduced performance with other brands and/or material.

but here is some new and interesting information JDM_DC4_FANATIC informed us on that may or may not help you decide what to buy:

Couldn't agree more! Bosch is the only brand I've ever seen where you remove them (rods still intact) that all you get in the steel threads...the rest is in the cylinder.

if you get the iridums be sure to post a review on what you think about them. not many people want to stray away from NGK coppers because of the consistent results we get from them. but if the iridums are truly better im sure a first ahnd review will persuade alot of people to take the step up.

Plenty of first hand reviews on the net.
Iridiums aren't worth it despite the outlandish claims of +10 HP on Denso Iridiums.
Just google and you'll see.

I just want to make it clear, that I never said that Irridium plugs are the best. Furthermore, I never said that NGK as a brand was the best. I am mearly passing on information that I recieved from an NGK seminar. Even the instructor said that its not "NGK" irridium plugs that make the diffrence, its any irridium plug.

I will re-link the post I made, I think that people are misunderstand my intentions of the post.

Again, to recap, the use of irridium is intended to get the most fuel efficeny from the motor, not to make power.
