speratic idle.....
I was having a idleing problem do to a vacume leak about 2 weeks ago, but I got thet fixed. Now it has started to pick a different RPM to idle at every time I drive the car. Its usually between 900 and 2000 RPMS.... Only think I can think of is I broke that little sensor that sits on the rear drivers side of the intake manifold, there is one line leading into it (vacum line), then one line leading to that emmisons can thing below the TB. I just bipassed the sensor all together, could this be the cause of my idel problem?
Have you tried adjusting your idle yet? You really need to buy a helms manual. Rev the car at 3k rpms until the motor warms up and the fan kicks on. Then disconnect the iacv sensor plug. Set idle to 400 rpm with the idle adjusting screw on top of the throttlebody. Then plug the iacv sensor back up, reset the ecu, and start it up. Your idle should now be at 750.

I adjusted it, but the lowest I can get it with out the IACV hooked up is 1100RPM, 1300 to 1400 RPM with the IACV hooked up!!!! The screw wont go in any futher. Could it be a fualty IACV unit? I have an extra one from my LS IM, but will it fit on the 1st gen b16 manifold? I don't think I have any vacume leaks, I went over it pretty good and all the vacume hoses seem to all be connected.
Yeah, Im stupid. I just remembered that I bipassed the FITV! I read somewhere that it heats up the TB alot, which heats up the in coming air. I guess I'll hook it back up.
