Default how do you measure a brake master cylinder?

i know i need one off a 91 ex four door without abs, and it has to be a 15/16th. but how are and what are you measuring to get the 15/16th measurement? does it have any numbers on it to know that its the correct one im looking for? any help is appreciated. thanks alot

The number is the diameter of the piston inside the MC. It is usually stamped on the side in a circle like this:
