Aboout the same way you would any car remove things. Spare, Back Seats, Carpet, pass seat, dash, glass, body panels, cut off roof, till you get down to removing the driver. lol

i would not recomend removing a/c, p/s, and ABS if your car is daily driven. and even if it is track only i still recomend keeping p/s and ABS.

Don't be a weenie None of that stuff is needed.

Take out as much as you can, and replace as many parts as you can with lighter parts.

obviously you never hit the track with a 2800 pound car w/o powersteering. and most people, especially amateurs will be alot faster around the track with the ABS then without it, regardless of the weight advantage. btw im not talking about drag racing.

plus, his car is a LX, he doesnt have ABS anyway

I dont see why people would take off p/s.... Unless you're one of those people who can't drive, and the only way you know how to drive is straight. sad....

Anyways all those other things people said. Maybe some good carbon fiber hood. Or if you're using this for a track car only, remove everything!!!!

I know it sounds dumb, but you know, depending on your size, you could stand to lose some weight off yourself too. A friend of mine shaved off some weight making the stock exhaust system shorter and removing some parts (check local emissions laws). There are many ways (as per the posts above).

I don't know if I can get it below 2k , but I estimate that it's at about 2100-2150 right now.

i've driven my stock accord through some cone courses and at low speed cornering speeds (20-40 mph) transitioning from one tight corner into another, even with power steering is difficult. i tried the same course in my friends CB7 w/o powersteering, and i couldnt even get the car to go the direction i wanted. yes, at speed the p/s plays little role, but in slow speed cornering, or quick movement is needed its a ******* bitch.

i still dont see the point to weight reduction.......all that stuff taken off for what.....a few tenths of a second (if that) off your 1/4mile or circle track times? Especially being a DD.

throw some gasoline in it and light a match. Much easier than all the other suggestions.

Taking off power steering when the rack is made for it is bad for the rack/pinion!

a few tenths in racing is alot. and if its free, then its even better! but yea, in a daily driven car it would be very unpractical to strip out your enitre interior. but to some people that few extra tenths is worth it.

the problem with removing power steering in our cars is that they all had it from the factory. Our steering racks are all hydraulic, so when you remove the P/S, it drags like a dog. Its like trying to steer with the car off all the time. Now a civic or integra that has OPTIONAL p/s means that you can get a non hydraulic rack, and its a higher pinion ratio making it easier to turn the car. I would say keep the powersteering, its not worth the minimal power loss. Besides, running a hydraulic rack with no pump will toast the rack in short order, especially with some track time.

There's a big difference between taken out your PS to lose 15-20 lbs and taking hundreds of lbs off. Weight reduction proportionately affect braking, handling and acceleration in a good way.

i agree. some people loop the p/s steering system to relieve pressure and keep the power rack lubed, it supposedly makes it easier, but i have no personal experiance with it.
