Vitara piston to wall clearance
The machine shop told me my piston to wall clearance as of now is already .005" and recommends me to go with oversize pistons but thats not an option for me right now. OEM service limit is only .002". Is this going to be ok and will there be any problems down the road? I don't know what the recommend clearance for vitara pistons are, but if any has gone thru a similiar situation can chime in? thanks

youll be fine, i ran .004 on mine and it slapped a tiny bit...i have heard worse on forged piston cars. and yes jfk_78 runs .008 on his car and puts out the most of anyone using vitaras...thats gotta speak for something

yes, you will need to bore/hone though... then again, jfk ran on .008 without any problems..

becauase .01" is TEN THOUSANDTHS of an inch... most forged pistons install anywhere from .0045-.0055 and higher depending upon how much heat you're going to put into the piston (expand via Horsepower)

....you are right though! .01 is WAYY to big of a gap to be running, OP will be lucky if his car goes anywhere and has oil by the end of the week if he dares put this in his car.

ha...for some reason I felt compelled to break out the bolt, size=4, and the almighty color=red.
Mine had .006 clearance and it ran fine for the 2 yrs i had it. Never had problems of blow by and always my Compression test numbers were even.
JFK's car has .008 clearance and he holds the record for most hp out of the vitaras and stock sleeves (443whp)
BTW: I should be receiving 75.5mm vitaras in around a week or two and a second batch by mid July.

i just built another block for someone, it had .0045 clearance...customer says it runs like a champ...i also over saw the build of another block that runs .006 and it is running flawless as well....on the 2nd motor it really has no audible slap at all...not sure why, but its very quite.
