S2000 rear shocks on EH hatch, GC sleeves with 0600.250.0400 springs as starting point?
Tyson made the discovery a while ago that S2000 rear shocks will work on some fwd Hondas such as 88-00 civics, the s2k rear shocks come stock with roughly 300 pound springs, are nice and short and also have remote reservoirs from the factory.
I can pick up a used set locally for quite cheap, so I think I'm going to do so for ***** and giggles. FYI, in the front I'm thinking of running spss3 Konis with 0800.250.0600 springs and GC top hats/bump stops. ITR rear sway/ASR Brace, also Civic Sedan front sway I'm thinking... The car will have a fair amount of street miles put on it, but I'm obviously willing to sacrifice a bit of comfort for stable, predictable handling. It will spend some time doin Auto-X just for fun and hopefully track days also just for fun on 205/50/15 Azenis. Also I should mention it's not a daily driver.
Anyway I'm just wondering if those rear springs are a good idea with the stock S2K dampers. They're just a starting point and depending on real-world feedback I might change them, or throw away those S2K shocks and get rear SPSS3... But I'd like to give the S2K shocks a chance because they're trick and they're cheap and they've never been done before by anyone on Honda Tech that I know of. I just dont want to wreck them with springs they cant handle... But I think they should handle 400#, considering they have about 300# springs from the factory, I also bet that with all that technology like remote rezzies, they're pretty stout.
When it comes to spring length, I'll email Don Feen@ ground control with my details and also measure the shocks once I buy them. But I'd bet that 6" springs would be best with such a short shock. Thoughts?

where the hell were you when i asked....
ive been playing around with my old GC sleeves on my s2000, actually ON my s2000, not my crx.
i dont feel like repeating myself so read this.

LOL,
I didn't notice that thread.
I fitted them in my integra back in the day because, like you, I got it for dirt cheap. It is really good for what it is.
Still can't handle too much springs, but it is a good shock for those that run softer springs.

yeah it cost me $10 just to get the answer. this was way before i got my s2000.

top hats are NEARLY the same too. top hats from civics and integras for some reason have little tabs around the top, increasing the OD of the center bushing tube. s2000 top hats dont. so it doesnt fit through the center hole of the s2000 chassis, until you just grind them off. otherwise, theyre the same. s2000 has stiffer bushings tho, like ITR's.
i never put it on my crx tho. like i said, i was just curious.
anyway, its hard to say what experience with spring rates on a RWD s2000 would relate on a integra or civic. but im finding 375 is near where the shocks usefulness on the s2000 chassis.
they just look cool
