Default DIY Sheetmetal reinforcement?

Has anyone ever felt a lil precarious about the "ears" that the front and rear LCAs mount on to? they look like they could use a lil beefing up. and i don't think it would be too hard to make, just some 1/8 thick steel with a hole for the lca bolt to pass through and a mig weld would get her done... no? anyone ever do this on their ef /ed?

Never seen or heard anything about failure. Are you having problems?

You know what they say: "If it ain't broke..."

granted, but i just fear lateral loads from r-compounds getting those things either out of shape or deflecting.

I know alot of people who have used R comps with out that as an issue.

Honestly if you wanta play around go for it. If you know what you are doing you won't make it worse, if you don't know what you are doing don't mess with it.

Maybe you can even just make some bling like aftermarket LCAs that people buy.

I have yet to have a problem with mine and r-comps and know lots of CRX race cars that haven't had issues. I understand what you are saying but I think it is a non-issue.

its really a non- issue. I use r-comp with no problems, usually if anything the subframe will tear out before what you are describing would bend or break.

Funny you mention this. One of the guys i work with at our local honda dealership, Recently broke his rear lower subframe where the control arms bolt up! from what we can gather he had a lower comptech tie bar and a comptech swaybar. We think the sway bar was putting too much force on the frame and and since the tie bar was so stiff it wouldn't allow the frame to flex and snapped it! I wish i had pics. He never takes it to the track its just his daily driver, so yeah if you run aftermarket swaybars and tie bars i wiould concider strengthining it

This was probably an EG though and not a EF. The ef sway bars dont bolt on to the subframe like the EG's do so they dont suffer the same malady.
