17's are going to ride rough and cost you an assload in tires.
Not to mention the extra wear on your brakes/suspension components.
17" wheels are a bad idea for a street civic IMO.
A comfortable tire on those are going to be much bigger than the overall diameter of the stock wheel/tire.
Wheels are wheels, the wheels you got are heavy as explertive, but they look okay and won't break unless you smash into something.

My buddy has the 16" ff7s on his eg6 and they seem to ride nice. ive got some 17s on my eg6 and they ride decent. it just depends on what your trying to accomplish. cause i know my 17s have a lot more rotating mass which will lower the life of my brake components but they do fill the wheel wells rather nicely.

To start, 205/40/17 tires have the exact same O.D. as the stock 185/65/14 (for the most part).
Tires aren't much more expensive than a decent performance 15" tire. As a matter of fact, the Kumho AST is only $50 a tire at Tire Rack (considerably cheaper than most 15s of similar performance).
If you pick a lighter weight wheel, there will be no increased wear and tear on your suspension or brakes.
If YOU want 17s, get them. Don't let the fanboys here steer you in a different direction.

By all means if that's what you want go for it.
In the end it's all what you like, I meant to add that to the end of my other post.
I had 17's on my civic for a while too.
