Gaging Interest: Hydraulic Transmission --> Cable D-Series Mounts
For years now there has been an acceptable system to place a hydraulic transmission into the ED/EF chassis, whether the transmission be from the B/F/H/K series. But there are no mounts on the market to allow an individual retaining their SOHC D-Series motor to leave the small contingent of cable transmissions behind and move up to the more plentiful hydraulic series. I'll admit it, the SI L3 transmission is fine choice but face it, they were only produced for 1 / 3 years (21/20 Splines) and no more are ever going to be created. Hydraulic transmission span 8 years and within those casings the world is open to you: OEM / Custom LSDs, Custom Gearing, availability of easy replacement with less miles, etc. I have created this thread to see how many of you would pay for the chance to switch from a cable transmission to a hydraulic transmission. Assume the price to be around the cost of a set of quality B-Series mounts.

Feel free to cross link, direct traffic here, write this in the sky. If enough interest and enough of us are serious about this, I will foward this up the foodchain to the various mount production houses to see if it is feasable to due a production run / make this a run of the mill application.

From my knowlege which isn't much
~
B series EF hydro conversion 92+ tranny mount will work, afterall D series and B series hydro trannys share the same stud pattern 92+...next issue would be making a decent clutch cable/hydro conversion lever system that functions and works nicely..
We sell the Aftermarket/Polyurethane D series cable EF motor mount kits, may be something in the future we will be looking to do...

A user here BigTuna took a stab at using B-Series mounts (he has already converted to hydraulic mounts through personal fabrication) and the motor couldn't be placed correctly. Thanks for showing interest, and hopefully you don't get the boot again

I'd be up for a set, I dont need to convert now, but i am sure when i need to, and hydro's are the only ones left, i'd like to have this option.

well what i would do if i had the time. is use all direct engine mounts from a 92-95 civic or integra. Thus being able to use d-series or b-series with out any mount kit. For hydro clutch maybe use the whole pedal assembly from a 92-95 civic. should not be to hard to fab.

</TD></TR></TABLE> If you went that route you'd make a lot of work for yourself; adding two support mounts and possibly redoing the frame rail brackets. The pedal assembly from later models will not work out of the box, as the master cylinder would require you to cut out a section of firewall. If you managed to remount it going towards the driver you just have to make room under the dash for it.

i mounted pedals from a 94 del sol in my 88 crx. it wasnt hard. the gas pedal is a little of but the brake pedal holes mount right up. the clutch is its own seperate pedal. all i did was grind off the bolt for the gas pedal and drill through the firewall for a new bolt and nut. same with the clutch pedal. i just found the flatest spot i could mount the slave cylinder and went with it. runnin a new hard line is easy. if you cant bend and run lines dont even attemp the rest.
maybe a clever idea, but check this out.... front end accident, your phuq'd. cable snaps your f'd, hydro slave goes out your ..... you get the idea instead of one item going out, you know have a possible of three things that could go bad.
sorry if this didn't make any bit of logic... been drinking a few beers
this is why i would rather use frame mounts from the eg or integra thus being able to use direct mounts for that motor, no mount kit needed. and use a hydro clutch... maybe someone should just fab a custom clutch that bolts into the stock location.
I would like to see it on the market but I don't have a need for it yet. Key word is yet...eventually cable trans are going to be hard to come by.
i havent compared a d-series hydro tranny to a b-series tranny. but cant a similar setup like the HASport cable/hydro setup be used? i would be interested in this. seeing gas prices are increasing, it would just be a drop in d-series swap, motor and tranny. just like b-series mounts. what about axles though?
so the left and right side mounts remain oem, and you're looking to produce a rear mount that allows the hydrolic trannys to bolt up?
then its simply a matter of actuating it?
