Spring rates? What is best?
I did a search in here for spring rates and coilovers but came up empty. Could you please enlighten me as to what you guys have on your Type R's (brand, spring rates) and what you use your car for (dd, track *****, both....)? I dd my R and I don't mind if it is too stiff because I don't really drive it that far to work, but I would like to know what you guys are doing out there.
Thanks,
Jon

I'm currently running PIC Select coilovers with 12kF and 14kR and while being stiff I do find the ride very manageable during my short drive to work.
On the track these spring rates keep the car very flat and allow me to control the rear end of the car with little effort, and very predictable.

My car is basically track only. The only time it's on the road is coming and going to Summit Point.
The longest drive it will have been on recently is the upcoming VIR Expo.
Showa N1 Suspension. 14K Front / 16K Rear.
Some are sold as Showa, some are sold as Spoon, some are sold as Mugen...but they are all basically the same with the same valving. Occasionally you will find cheaper versions that are the same, but they are heavier because of heavier metal being used for the housings.
14K on the front to help with weight transfer when going into threshold braking.
16K on the rear to help rotate controllably.

Im running the same setup. Curious what damper settings you are using on the street? I run 4 in the front and 3 in the rear. its very stiff and can bounce some on slow rollers and dips, but it manages sharp bumps and rough roads very nicely. Cant wait to get them on the track at Expo.

I have been running with 2F and 1R. I don't want to make the rear too lively on the street. I haven't experimented too much yet (only put them in about 3 weeks ago), but so far I've been very impressed with the ride quality.
I'll be doing allot of experimenting with them at the Expo. I've only done one lapping day with them so far and haven't got them in the sweet spot yet. I tend to adjust things slowly so that I don't get any sudden surprises.

Im gonna raise my car up slightly and try 1 click softer on front and rear. I have found so far (on the street anyway) that the softer you go on the 12/14 setup, you begin to feel like the springs are a little too stiff for the damper setting. The spring travels farther and very quickly on softer settings. But Im still experimenting also.

On my old ITR I ran 550 frt and 650 rear on a set of Apexi N1s. I didn't mind the ride at all even here in Michigan. With a rear Mugen bar the car felt very good on the track.

im on ein Ra's, 12k/14k. I wanna sell for PIC's. Very streetable i think... sometimes i get sick of it. thats partly the reason i may be getting rid of them and that i dont even put them to use lol so overkill
I have Spoon N1's with 14kg front and 12kg rear. Front shocks are set on 3 and rears on 2 and i find it perfect for street driving. I have tried every combination of shock settings for hard front/soft rear and soft front/hard rear and found the current set up is best for me for street use.
