that is absolutely INSANE
On a local forum, a guy is selling a good condition y8 SWAP for 600
When I was selling my y8, it was 500! (engine,tranny,axles,ecu...everything)

I assume you're buying it from a local auto dismantler? They usually charge steeper than usual. One place in Detroit wanted $4000 for a basic GSR swap.
I guess if you're desperate and it's warranteed and you don't have to add frieght cost it could be worth it to you to just pay it, but in general yes it is overpriced.

dude...keep looking...seriously
I highly suggest you try elsewhere. $1000 is way too expensive for a y8. Argue the price, at the very least

Well, to illustrate the point, I just got a JDM B16 OBD1 complete longblock w/all accessories for $1000 shipped from a shop. You could easily source tranny, mounts, linkage for another $1000 and have a dohc vtec setup.

well i dont have the money to piece together or even buy a complete b series swap or else thats what i wouldve done...yes i am buying from a local auto dismantler, i called tons of places, been on plenty of websites and couldnt find a y8 motor under 60k miles..yes im pretty desperate about it..and like i said i did search around and couldnt find **** and i was going to put an OBD1 motor into my OBD2 car but then id have to make it so it passes inspection and maybe im just being lazy or settling but i just want my fcking car back ..its probably easy to make it so that my car can pass inspection but i really dont want to have to deal with frankensteining a car.

I got my obd0 b16 SWAP/Front clip for 1100.00 delivered.

Longblock
Tranny
axles
ecu
knuckles
linkage
mounts and brackets
harness

Guy was in need of the money though.

I sold everything I didn't need and ended up with a Y21 lsd tranny.

1000.00 for a y8 is alot. I paid 600.00 for an F22A1 2 years ago and replaced all seals on it. Ended up with around 900.00 in it. Now looking back I should have just put an H22A in it for 1200.00

If thats what you want then cool. But if you look around you could get one for cheaper. Find someone that is swapping out for a B and grab theirs.

Way too much. Keep looking, they go for cheap around here. The milage doesn't justify the price. I got a y8 that runs like new with 192k .

this is funny as ****...over the past 2 days ive put up posts of where to look cause all the places i looked...INCLUDING THE H-T MARKETPLACE...i couldnt find anyone selling a block, one with decent mileage and something that was close...and i dont think i got one ******* reply from anybody with any kind of good advice or anything at all...but now after the fact of finding a block all the criticism and "help" comes out of the woodwork...do you guys like wait for **** like this and then try to make the person feel worse about their situation??

so glad i created this post...

lol ok

1) I didn't read/see your other posts. I don't post in the Civic forum as much anymore

b) How was I a dick? I just said you buggin, and you can probably get a whole B16 swap. I even linked you to the NJ for sale thread seeing if theres possibly a Y8 in there for sale. I didn't recognize your HT s/n, so I figured maybe you didn't post in that thread.

It all boils down to supply/demand. If you are in desperate need to get your DD up and running so you can work and pay your bills you will pretty much pay any amount that isnt outrageous or within your means. Not many people have another car they can drive if their DD goes down.
