Default Rubber washer required when installing Skunk2 shifter?

i was looking at this write

http://www.clubcivic.com/board...06789

I think many do not include the rubber washer. Is it important, and should i purchase it from honda, or just use regular washers. thanks

I would say no, but it's there for a reason...

I didn't install them with mine. No problems here.

After installing those metal inserts on each side of the bearing, if there is any space left between the shifter and the shift rod, as described in that write-up, you'll need something to take up that space. If you don't, you'll end up with NASTY rattle/vibration problems.

I used a combination of metal washers and a lock washer on mine to keep everything pressed together and rattle-free, and it's been that way for nearly 6 years now.
