oil grade question ???
i have a 140 k b18a1 and i use lucas racing oil, 20w-50w is a gangsta viscosity. because it fills the tiny gaps between the oil rings and the cylinder walls. old tyme mechanics do the same thing. it also provides good oil press cause its thick.
ah, thats REALLY too thick for our cars. If it does provide extra oil pressure it'll take a LOt longer to get there in the colder months. If youre in really hot climates 10w30 is fine, but Honda recommends 5w30 for any time.
i know its not recommended but i use it because of the higher mileage, and i used oil stabilizer on the heads so their is no dry starts in the morning. Lucas has quality products 4 street cars.
OP: Either 5W30 or 10W30 is fine. It just doesn't get cold enough in El Monte to make 5W30 an absolute necessity.
I would definitely recommend against 20W50 - too thick when cold.

i always use 5w-30 just so i dont have to worry about using a different oil when it gets too cold out in conneticut.
and does using those lucas additives really help the engine that much?

when i first used them, it sounded chatter like, but it was oil pressure absolutly when i started on cold mornings. as soon as u do the next oil change, u will hear ur head chatter free. it pretty helpful stuff. i also use royal purple for oil. i like synthetic
i have the same question but mine is a B18b1 thats bored and fully built and boosted... should i use 10w30 or 10w40? a buddy said since everythings built with higher stage parts should use 10w40...
