no, this question has been beat to death. the trans won't work thats the problem. and if the trans did work it probably wouldn't be strong enough to hold much power anyway. but i could be wrong. it would be nice to have an AWD civic, but its not really possible.

It is possible though to swap in a D16Z6 for example and keep the factory drivetrain setup. It does work but the only problem I can see with it is the fact that the AWD system works off sets of clutches which can wear out if too much power is applied. Another misconception is that the AWD system is "true" AWD, which it isn't. The rear wheels only receive power when the front wheels begin to slip.

BTW the JDM spec civic or integra (I forget) at one time did come in AWD format, although I forget what year and what they call it over there.

my awd wagon with d16z6 won't even chirp the tires the least bit when taking off, it just launches. even thru a wet intersection. the transmission would work in a hatch, you would have to get the welded on frame bracket on the trans side from a 4wd, and the shifter is cable. the worst mod would be the driveshaft tunnel and the rear suspension. you'd have to cut out your floor and use the wagon floor down the center and in the rear. it can be done, seen cars with it.

i can get my car completly side ways in the rain with a stock zc in my 91 rt wagon. i hold it at like 5-6k rpm and dump the clutch. and that is with powerking snow tires. there is a pic. some where on ht of a hatch with the conversion. i dont think it would be worth it.

I'm gonna talk out of my *** here but wouldn't it be remotely possible to rig an AWD system from a CRV?
