the valves don't tell him whether the head is from an ITR or not. how does the purchaser know the seller hasn't just put ITR valves in it and is palming off a B16 head?

Try to bolt up either a B16/ITR intake manifold ot a GSR intake manifold. That should answer your question.

PR3 is the B16/Type R code. It was made in 98 so it could have been on either the 98 Type R or the 99 Civic SI. Most likely they are made the year before so my guess it is B16 SI.

Has it been ported? or is it rough in the ports and only the intake side by the valve stem/guide been smoothed out. If so then possible Type R.

Can you see green paint over by the dizzy mount?

If it is a B16 head and has been ported and polished then who cares. The LMA's would be the closest thing to a difference and the combustion chamber.

PR3-3 or PR3-4 can be R.

P30 should be stamped on the the portion next to the Dizzy mount. The intake ports should be polished.

If this is done, then you're good.

Almost 3 years later. Ppl are still wondering if it a R or not.
It's a security thing.. we need help knowing the true facts and not b.s.

From what I know. Green paint on the dizzy mount
P30 are b16 and type R stamps for the factory just dual valve springs, and yes the intake manifold fits the b16 heads also, the head gaskets are the same.
