getting a new alarm put in and was told that the 2000 Type R has a chipped key....is this true????

 

98+ have an immobilizer if that's what your asking.

I thought the 98's did not have the immobilizer. At least my key isn't chipped.

 

I might be wrong but I think 2000+ has the immobilizer

yeah it's 2000 and up that got the immob

 

I was told that I would need to buy a immobilizer by-pass and it would memorize my chipped key..........installing new viper alarm with gps tracker.

Dong install myself just so I know I would be able to hide the alarm the way I want it to in a specific spot.

 

That is correct, my bad. 2000+ had the immobilizers, not 97, 98 and thus why you can get the nifty ITR key for the 97's and 98's.
