Hey, last night my girls friend asked me to install her radio that she had got for christmas it's a jensen. iknow there not the best but its what she got ... anyways my question is BTW she has an 02 civic EX her stock radio always gave her problems with the CD player it wouldnt read any cd's.. (main reason she got a new player) And so i instaled everythng for her and went to test it out. all workerd great untill we tryed a cd. wouldnt read them just kept saying disc read error after saying reading for about 3 min. i tried resetting the unit about 3 times but no luck.

Now the questions is could it be something with the wiring thats not letting either unit (stock or new ) read cd's or just a coinsidence ( SP).

Are we talking pre recorded CDs or are they "burnt" CDs?

If they are pre recorded CDs it is just a coincident that both the OEM HU and the new Jensen HU are not reading the CDs, try running a lens cleaner in the Jensen. 94

 

it wont play either cd's, basically i dont really care i just wanted make sure it had nothing t do wit the wiring.

more than likely the oem unit doesnt play cd's because its worn out. the jensen unit prolly doesnt play cd's because its a piece of ****. you should suggest a quality brand radio to your girlfriend. ie. pioneer, kenwood, alpine, jvc, eclipse, etc. good luck.

 

It's possible she doesn't know how to take care of her CDs and they are all scratched up. I installed a mp3 CD deck in my friend's Integra, and she started complaining that CDs won't work. I told her that maybe her CDs are all scratched, since she just leaves them loose in the door map pockets, on the seat or on the floor. She did concede that her CDs were indeed scratched up.

I bought a $50 Jensen mp3 CD deck for my beater (beaters don't need nice stereos). It plays my audio CDs, CD-R and mp3 CDs perfectly.

 

cool; yah i had one i my beater and i worked good bu i think its just a coincidence and also the face plate doesent lock in easy you gotta play with it alot to make it stay on .. i think she is goin to buy a new one or call jensen to have them fix it or send a new one cuz it has a one year warranty..
