Zip-in Pants with a nonZip-in Jacket?
I'm going to be attending a track day at the end of the summer this year, but I don't have a full leather suit. I'm riding with an Icon Motorhead Jacket (2006 model) that doesn't have a zipper to connect pants to, not that Icon makes zip-in pants. But...I know A* track pants that zip-in come with both sides of the zipper, making me think you could sew the other side of the zipper into another jacket and in turn make a 2-piece suit. Anyone have experience with this? TIA
I've never tried to do it that way, but I assume that it's possible. The person attaching the opposite zipper would need to sew it to the liner of your jacket. Other than that, I'd only worry about the jacket's length and overall circumference fitting the pants.
Yeah^^^. If that were to be done, it would probably be best to take it to a tailor to have the jacket and pants matched up for a proper fit, so he could measure how far the pants come up and how far the jacket goes down to get the zipper in the right place.

Thanks for the reply. I don't mean to sound cheap, but I'd rather be able to keep my jacket than shell out for another. I know Icon doesn't carry the same respect as other brands, but it fits me well and is comfy

I'd suggest keeping your Icon jacket and going with a one or two-piece suit from A*, or Joe Rocket, or whichever manufacturer fits you best. For the price of A*'s track pants, you could probably get a full suit from AGV, Frank Thomas, or Fieldsheer.
Just remember, fitment is paramount.

Yep, I'll keep that in mind. I'm taller and thinner, around 6'1 and 175lbs, so I'm guessing I'll have to look around for a suit that fits well. Any preference for a one-piece over a two-piece?

To jump on to what ^^ said already...
The 1piece will not bunch up so much in the midsection. I find a 2piece much more easy to take on-and-off, either for canyon-riding or at the track. After a session (at the track, or even on a hot summer day), sometimes you don't want to be wiggling out of your suit. A separate jacket makes it much easier to do so.

EDIT: sorry to thread-jack

Try a size 46 or 48 (US size). Those numbers vary between manufacturers, so the best bet is to try all of the suits on. For example, I fit a 48US A* suit, but I can barely get a leg into an RS Taichi 48US.
