Does anyone have subs in the trunk of their Del Sol?
Because I do, and I'm in a constant quest to make it stop rattle.
Anyone have any opinions besides dynomatt? I've dynomatted the entire bottom of the trunk area (spare tire space), and a good 75% of the top, and I'm lost on ideas to get rid of the awfulness.
Pictures of it.

Isolate where the rattles are coming from and work from there. Don't just stick pieces of Dynamat (not dynomatt) arbitrarily... That's just wasting it.

Dynamat does not prevent rattles. Just reduces it.
For your trunk you want to do more than patchwork. Use a full sheet across the areas, works better than just covering up holes and vibrating points. Dynamat also makes larger pads (Dynapad) that is much thicker and will reduce vibration even more.
When you apply the dynamat, I suggest using diluted paint thinner and clean the area. Use a heat gun to get the sticking agent (monkey snout!) really tacky. Use roller and apply the sheet to the area. Roll the sheet so that bubbles will be removed and this will push the dynamat into the crevasses.
There are plenty of other methods that are your backyard trick, but very risky. Expanding foam is one for instance. The foam will reduce vibration quite well, but applying the foam can expand the panels beyond the welds.

Yes use full sheets. And layer. And unless you get dynamat extreme for under $2/sq.ft then goet another brand that works just as well and is only $1.60 to boot: http://www.edesignaudio.com/ed...id=52 shipping on a 60sq/ft roll is about $22 which is still cheaper than dynamatextreme
Do a better job covering with padding. You need to pad your trunk lid better, behind the license plate cover, and inside the fenders. Pull your carpet out and go to town.

A problem with Del Sols is the trunk is "sealed" from the pass. compartment almost completely, what I do will all Del Sols that we do a sub in trunk is to cut "vents" through the fire wall from the trunk into the pass. compartment.

My co-worker did that with his trunk and it expanded into his trunk lock. LMAO
Anyway, first thing I noticed...along w/ other responses is that "patchwork" dynamat won't help....like B18C said, you're just wasting it.
This is probably why I don't do big sounds anymore....I don't want to have to get extra **** to prevent rattles.

I thought that the fenders on the del sol were hollow and the only thing stopping them from being a passage into the car were the carpet/plastic on the inside of the car?
