did summit main today - turned out to be AWESOME weather
all yesterday and the whole drive there it was raining and I was cursing mother nature up and down for making it such a shitty day. Well turns out she came through cause once I got to harper's ferry it was damp but mostly dry. Got to the track and it was drying nicely. Later on the sun came out and really made things warm and got the track nice.
I did the day with Sportbiketracktime. For me it was some great instruction though some of the novice stuff was a lil eh. My body position is still screwy too. when going straight or on a stand when an instructor would have me move side to side or demostrate it (on a stand) I can get off fine. For some reason I screw it up in turns - I'm not bad but need to get off more. there were 3 sessions of instruction and then the rest of the day we were pretty much on our own. Passing on the straights only. it was a real small group too so this made it fun cause for the most part things were wide open.
Anyways last session I worked on my body position only and did pretty well according to the instructor which I'm very pleased about though obviously need more practice.
My buddy's RC had a problem 2nd to last session, seems like the fuel pump died on him. I then decided to follow in the drama and had my bike fall on the trailer.
AMAZINGLY my shoulder and windshield seemed to take the whole fall (I was standing on the ground tightening a strap when the opposite side let loose. it slowly kinda fell and I tried catching it with my shoulder which hit the windshield.
) I was sure my rear plastics or exhaust were gonna be F*cked and maybe my right lower but nope... *PHEW* My new rearsets might've protected the rear and don't look bent (another plus of being an easy fall). Buddy quickly helped me get it upright and all is well other then I need a new windshield. Oh wellm lesson learned - I need a good wheel chock from now on to hold it upright on the trailer.....
I'm waiting for pictures and it's time to pass out... I'm hooked
*oh and I got a set of pilot powers with 500 miles (street) on them for $100 from a ducati owner who removed them from his 999 to put on race tires.

Sounds good! On my 1st trackday I was sooo afraid that I was gonna drop the bike while unloading it! Except I dont have a trailer, I haul in a Chevy Silverado 2500 HD Deisel that makes for a perilously high tailgate. Gald you had fun and the little whoopsies damage was minimal!

here's just a couple lil thumbnails. yeah yeah my body position sucks. this was mid day. End of the day it was improved but needs a bit of work still
I have a ton in sequence but I'm not gonna bore you with same 'ol same 'ol. It wasn't a big day in terms of riders so there's prob 85 pics of me from only 2 sessions

my friends gf has video of us coming down the front straight and then some of us through turns 6, 7, and 8. Looking at my speed recall I max'd down the straight at 140 (gps calibrated speedohealer) with letting off early way before the brake markers (I'm a wuss). Friend on his rc was hitting about 150. It had to sound sweet hearing the twins go down the straight. The ducatis early in the day sounded bad *** screaming down it
well they're the guys who I got my new pilot powers for $100 from.
They left early cause his bike had a cracked muffler. Sounded sick when it was flying down the straight though. Not sure which was louder, the dry clutch or the exhaust

You should cover your speedo up with tape, it will do nothing but scare you and slow you down.
What times were you running? That RC looks mean out there

I wasn't looking at it, I have a top speed recall on my speedohealer so I hit the button after the session and saw what it was. no clue on times for me. friend in A group on a 2006 gsxr 750 was 1:24's all day. Friend in novice on his rc borrowed a friend's timer for the 2nd to last session and had a best of 1:35 after 2 laps before his fuel pump failed after turn 9, he coasted into the pits and was done for the day. he probably would've been quicker and gotten the bump to I group too where of course he would've been slow compared to the rest but would get away from some of the true noobies.
oh and remember that engine braking talk we had when .paul crashed? well I was engine breaking way too hard and got my rc up to 238 F by accident by the end of the session. Next couple sessions I improved my braking and shifting mainly going into turn 4 which is where I had been on it hard earlier. That brought down the temps big time. We thought there was probably air in the system but I think I was just being an ***. lol Time to switch to water wetter too
