quick run down... 92civic dx with zc 88-91 swap (non vtec 1.6)

car ran awesome. didnt burn oil, except for a little oil leak from the valve cover gasket!!! (even thou i put in a new gasket) anyway. Its been 7 months, i havent really been using the car at all, only started it once every 2months or so..

it still ran fine... then few days ago i took of the valve cover to repaint it... (the valve cover was taken off for 24hrs, as i painted and sanded the valve cover at work). Anyway, i reininstalled it back the next day, and now my cars exhaust lets out more clouds then a house on fire.... what gives?

not only that, i hear some ticking going on or knocking from the intake manifold? and the intakes making a funny noise aswell... what gives? car use to run awesome.

can anyone help? i dont know where to start.

yes, oil.

 

Make sure your PCV system is intact. If it is not sucking or not hooked up correctly, it will chew oil like no tomarrow. Odds are there would be gourges of oil in the manifold. The ticking can come from several places. Injectors, normal rocker tick, lost motion assembly. Let us know if its consistent, or erractic.

 

The ticking is consistent pretty much (and eratic . And its annoyin as hell. Seems like its coming from the intake manifold/injectors area. Not to sure.

PCV system ? whats that.. (sorry im pretty newb) And yea, if i go drive the car, even if im driving it granny styles, its smokin like a mfer. I cant belive car's acting up like this, when 7months again when i stopped driving it, it ran like a champ. ERR!



Im trying to get this car fixed up and get rid of it, and i dont know whether i should get a mechanic to do all this ****, if i should try and figure it out, or if i should just go to a shop and get another little d16 or zc motor installed for 800$ or so. eerrr
