civic ex oil leaks
i have a 1998 civic ex and i have recently discovered multiple oil drops in my drive way i changed valve cover gasket due to the fact that there was a lot of old oil build up around it but now leaks fresh oil, it is applied correctly should i reapply with gasket sealer or could it be a out of shape valve cover?( the one i replaced looked good but had a odd material glued in corners) my car is still leaking more from the bottom as well could that be due to a oil pan? so needless to say i only made the problem worse..... any help would be greatly appreciated!

just because your oil is collecting under the valve cover doesnt mean that your valve cover gasket is leaking. you should also change the distributor o-ring, and make sure its not your cam seals.

the valve cover gasket was leaking out but i used sealer last night so that hopefully elimantes one problem, there is a lot of fresh oil along the bottom or the car on both sides i can wipe a good amount of oil off of the oil pan but i guess i will degrease it tonight and look for any new oil spots sinced i sealed the valve cover down i know there has to be another problem: i just created a new one in the process which hopefully shouldnt be an issue anymore but i'll check after the degreasing process and let you know thanks a bunch sincerly christin

Hello it's me again i am picking up an o-ring today to change any ideas on how to change it with out the manual? also my car has leaked what appears to be alot of oil but the dipstick reads good could it be possible that the mechanic put too much oil in and it just made it worse i have had the car for a while and i never noticed it leaking before??? any help would be greatly appreciated my car is a 1998 honda civic ex SOHC thanks a bunch...sincerly christin
