Default Possibly fried my ECU...

99 Accord Ex

First let me say this is a great forum!

now for the background...
I've owned 3 gens of accords and ended up heavily modifying my 5th gen extensively including engine swap for h22a and auto -to- manual conversion ect.... point being i'm not totally mechically retarded. so.....

the current story...

I currently own a 99 Accord EX. My check engine light came on friday on the way to work but car still ran seemingly great. Remembering how i used to jump the diagnostic plug to troubleshoot ECU codes on my old honda i decided to do the same on this one.

I checked the passenger side under glovebox for the light blue plug to "jump" but couldnt find it. so, off to google "check engine light +flash +OBD2 +accord" alas I found to get your check engine light to "flash codes" you must "Jump pins 8 and 13" on the diagnostic plug.

Following the directions I do so. It seems very straight forward as the plug has a unique shape so the diagram I had matched perfectly. I insert my jumper wire turn key on and noticed the only idiot light not lit is the check engine light??? I remove jump wire and turn key back to "on" and still no check engine light. reinsert wire, try again still no ignition light.

so frustrated i remove the jumper and go to start my car to pull it back into the garage and now not only does my check engine light not come on the car does not start. It turns over fine but i do Not hear the fuel pump prime the engine nor does it act like it even wants to fire.

I take a closer look at the plug and notice some of the holes are numbered and they are backwards of what my diagram shows so i may have "jumped" the wrong pins.

I checked all the fuses, under hood, passenger side and drivers side panels. no bad fuses found. I removed my battery cable to hard reset the ECU but still no start and the check engine light never comes on. I'm stuck!

thanks for any suggestions.

UPDATE:
it looks like i jumped 9 + 4 actually. here are the pics of the plug and a pic of the diagram i used. you can see the numbers on the plug are backwards from the diagram.

here is the URL to the thread i found the diagram in> https://honda-tech.com/zerothread/1502084

Can anyone tell me what pin 9 leads to????

Here is a link where it says to jump 4 and 9, with the numbering of the plug different than the diagram you posted:

When a friend ask me about jumping the OBD II connector, I recommended he don't do it, since there is a chance of accidentally frying the ECM. Personally, I would only use an OBD II scanner on the OBD II connectors. They are only like $100 and up. -- I don't like taking the chance, especially if I was a little tired and trying to do it.

You may not have fried your ECM though, since you mentioned you connected 4 and 9...

interesting. i didnt even know the jump trick worked with OBDII systems. since its a system of alphabets and #s. but next time you can always just go any auto parts store like autozone and they will pull the code for you.
