i have a 91 crx hf. and recently it died on me on the road. the fuel pump isnt priming, people tell me its the main relay. i ordered one and im waiting for it to be delivered. what could cause it not to have spark?? could it be the main relay as well?

 

have u checked ur fuses? i kno in my eg.. the ecu fuse blew because of a wire grounding out and nothing would work. i'm just getting into crx's so i'm unsure of the ecu's... but i'd assume there's an ecu fuse, an ign fuse... and stuff like that. check all of ur fuses first.

 

i love it how whenever there is a problem that involves an engine not starting, people just go out and replace random parts without even trying to figure out what went wrong in the first place. Before you know it, youve spent hundreds of dollars and it still doesnt start...

but anyway yes the main relay has to do with fuel. What did you do to verifty there is no spark? main relay has nothing to do with ignition so no.

and yes there are ecu fuses and ignition fuses

what could cause it not to spark? well for starters anything that went bad inside your distributor, the plugs could have been internally damaged, blown fuses, all sorts of things can cause no spark

 

yea... don't buy a main relay without verifying that it doesn't work first. i don't buy parts without knowing for sure... i'm no baller. i can't afford it. lol

 

the relay was bad. installed the new one and the pump works. but theres still no spark
