Default A little scared about what could happen

Someone on a local forum said that since the h22 is an interferrence engine if it runs out of fuel or the fuel pump breaks than my valves could bend. Is this true? Also if i were driving at lets say 120 Km/hr and i turned the ignition off what could happen? Will my ignition break or will i damage my engine?

think dude.

if you lose fuel or spark you somehow think that the internals of your engine morph and start slamming into each other? lol no

an interferance engine means that if the timing belt breaks the valves could hit the pistons.

Yup, you got it, man. If you run out of fuel, the lack of gas causes a significant vacuum in the combustion chamber. This pulls the piston up while the valve is still moving. Eventually it hits the valves in each cylinder causing irrepairable damage.

You should stop driving your car immediately!!

Buy a set of wrenches and take apart your lawn mower. If you can't figure out how that works then go here and try reading about it.

The h22 is only an interference motor in vtec. So if you are driving below 5000 and you timing belt snaps there is a good chance that you will not damage anything.

Many other honda engines are interference all the time and if the timing belt breaks you are valves are dead.

So you have the wrong definition for a term you should know. An interference engine has nothing to do with running out of gas.

seriously? I never knew that I figured the h22 was like the h23 so just to clarify.. if my timing belt breaks out of vtec my valves will be ok? or is that just good news that wasnt meant for me today?

I've cut off my car going down the highway many times (5spd, neutral of course) just to get my check engine light turned off

I used to do the same if my check engine or breaklight light was on. just keep it in gear and throw the ignition of and back on.
