Sound coming from the engine? Rear end? Suspension? Tranny?

Axle, wheel bearing, possibly something contacting a brake rotor.

My only thought as to transmission internals would be the diff carrier bearings, but I can't say that those are a common failure at all.

If it's not valve lash or tranny bearings it's probably just the plain fact that honda motors just tick.

I replaced/adjusted all kinds of **** on my hatch. Still ticking.

It's not knocking, valve lash, valves, springs, timing, wheel bearings, axles, hubs, or tires.

Just ticks.

He said it only occurs while the car is rolling.

That is not an engine noise.

Ticking from the engine, particularly B16s, is typically injector noise.

I know all about injector noise, i'm positive that's the ticking I have. The resolution to that is to get them re-furbished or get new ones.

That's not really going to serve any purpose other than wasting time and money. The new injectors will just sound the same.

My EM1's injectors made noticeable noise for the entire time I owned the car, which was from about 40,000mi to 80,000mi.

well it's not quite just the injectors ticking. ANY vtec motor will tick because of the simple fact that when VTEC is not active, the VTEC rockers are just flapping in the wind (so to speak) as they get slapped around by the cam.

That doesnt seem to have much to do with the OP's question, though. I dunno man...what kind of tick...does the frequency go up or down with speed? or is it constant? Does it do it only around turns?

Hmm i dont here any ticking in my b16a1 or from the tranny? ticking ey maybe its nothing to worry about ... If other people have the same ticking sound and really doesnt have a problem well it shouldnt be a big problem except the fact there is a ticking try going to honda to get a 100% diagonsis of why its ticking

Yeah the sound doesnt really get louder but the tiking does go faster as speed increases- although its not quite a ticking sound, its louder like a clack sound. It seems to be coming from the right side. In neutral sound goes away even if running.

10W30 is only recommended as a TEMPORARY fix. Honda MTF can be had for around $5 each (you need around 2 to 2.5 quarts) from honda whole salers. Try ricks2k.com or hondaautomotiveparts.com. Thats where i get stuff from.

Sounds like a bad CV joint. Check your axle for broken/torn/missing CV boots. You'll have to replace the axle if they are open to the elements.

No, they don't. The lost motion assemblies in the head hold the center rocker arms against the cam when they are not engaged to the primary rocker arms.

$5.63 per quart (part no. 08798-9031). D-series transmissions take 1.8 quarts, and B-series transmissions take 2.2 quarts.

Yes, you can - however, I recommend against it. The shift feel with conventional engine oil is awful. I noted much smoother shifts with my S4C transmission when I switched from 10w-30 to Honda MTF.

What i meant by "flapping in the wind" is that they're not doing anything, they're just getting slapped by the cam. Bad choice of words, I guess. Either way, since they're not active, they do tick.

I bet $10 its the valves. I would always hear this ticking noise on my ls and when in nuetral I would hold revs to see if I could hear it and i couldn't, but on the road I would hear it. he said the ticking increases with rpms this would make perfect sense. After i did a valve lash adjustment the noise wasn't nearly as loud but still their. valve adjustment ftw! hondas just have really loud valvetrains.
