Default just put on my WS2.....

I recently installed my WS2 cat-back on my 91 civic Si. It looks and sound great. My only complaint, and im sure im not the only one, is that when makeing sharp turns or for example getting on the on/off ramp i can hear my exhaust rattle in the rear of the car. I got underneath the car and realized it was hitting my rear sway bar so i took a 1inch peice of rubber hose and zip tied it to the spot on the rear sway bar so it no longer makes a noise when it comes in contact with the bar. Off to another on/off ramp and sure enough there is another sound. I get back under the car and find out that now it hits the actual body of the car, aka around the spare tire area. My question is does anyone else have this problem? i did a little searching but please help!

Thanks,
Tom

HERE IS THE PIC WHERE I PUT THE RUBBER HOSE ON THE SWAY BAR. SORRY THE PIC IS BAD BUT BEST I CAN DO RIGHT NOW

it sounds sooo good! i was really worried about getting an exhaust that was raspy so i went with the quietest i could get and it looks so good! it has a real deep sound to it but the intake makes most the noise.

so pretty much there is nothin i can do. im going to try the solid mount instead of the rubber one and see if that helps a little bit. something is better than nothing and plus i cant bring myself to cut and weld on this exhaust.

I had the same problem with mine. I absolutely loved the sound but fitment with a swaybar sucks, especially an aftermarket larger bar. To fix the problem i did the same thing as Slystone and I also spaced the swaybar down at its mounts points on the body. I used 1/4" thick aluminum plates patterned after the ST mounts and longer bolts. The bar would still hit on hard bumps but I just learned to put up with it.

I have one of the apexi ws2 exhaust and i have that problem to I tried to fix it and it is better now all i did was turn the rubber hanger so it is closer to the car the one where the wheel is ^ or u could take the sway bar the rest of the civic and rex dont even have that ****. For that one guy that said the exhaust hits the shifter it is not supposed to do that I think you installed it wrong
turn the mid pipe the other way around the 3nut flange is supposed to point up the one bolt.

I have an older style one(same as the ws1 but not stainless) seems like they have not improved their design. I had the same issues with my exhaust. I do run a big 25mm bar though. I just welded new brackets to place the bar lower and its better. I also had a problem with my b&m short shifter slightly grazing the resonator so it would make an annoying rattle. I just saw where the paint was rubbed on the resonator and gave it a good whack with a bfh. That fixed the clearance problem.

if i read this right, u are suggesting the removal of my sway bar? IMO my car handles 10x better than any stock civic w/o the rear sway bar... so why would i remove it? just wanted to clear things up becuase if removing my SB wont effect the handlin then im sure not gonna waste my time upgrading it right?

all the sway bar does is just balance the lower control arms backs you need it for like
solo track better cornering. I dont think it would hurt any thing if you take the sway bar of. the back not the front one. Good luck. Also if you exhaust is new it will get a little louder. in a good way.

I had/have the same problem with the exhaust (though I believe mine is a ws1...bought it a long time ago). My solution was to wrap scrap peices of leather (go to a craft store) around the parts of the exhaust that hit the swaybar and spare tire area. I held the leather peices on with big hose clamps. Works great. The leather will get toasted, but even when its crispy it provides some buffer. Not a 100% solution, but its better than a machine gun sound at idle!

i have put 2k miles on it since i put it on and i can already tell that its wanting to get louder and it sounds soooo good i cant wait!

Also, today i took off my rear SB mounts and cut them in half and welded in a 3/4 inch peice to lower the bar just a bit. i only finished one mount but i put it on and it is lookin like it is going to work very well. i also hit the spare tire well in just a bit where it hits. im going to pick up some urethane hangers and finish up the mounts tomo! i took plenty of pics so im thinkin of postin up a how to thread just so other ppl could look this up with ease and fix it. just trying to help out the comunity!
