Wheel offset... Can someone explain to me?
I searched, but couldn't find anything too useful. I apologize if I missed something.
Could someone explain to me what exactly offset is? What the number means? I've always wondered about this, and I've never quite got around to understanding it... So enlighten me.
I'm about to buy a set of wheels to roll around on, and I'm just trying to figure out if they'll fit.

I'm still confused... I'm a visual learner.
I'll read over it a few more times and try to grasp it, I think I'm making it out to be harder than it is, haha.
Anyway, so some 15x6.5 wheels with a +45 offset SHOULD fit my Type-R nicely? I'm just worried about the wheel clearing the caliper.

The main thing to remember is that the offset number is the opposite off what you'd think. When you hear the term "offset" you'd assume that a higher number would be representative of a wheel sticking out further. Not the case.
It also correlates directly to the wheel width. A 15x6.5" at +40, will be 6 mm farther in than a 15x7" +40. You cannot directly compare two wheels that have the same offset if the width is different, and vice versa.
This is the only link you should need.

In addition to that, say one 15x7 +40 wheel clears the brakes, just because that one does does not mean another one will because the spoke design can be completely different.

So KOALA YUMMIES, what do you think about these clearing the calipers... 15x6.5 +45 offset.

They're off a Q45, which have pretty big brakes compared to Type-R, but I'm curious about the shape.

I had a set of Infinity Q45 BBS meshes (the cheapo ones) and they cleared fine, 15x6.5" +45 as well, but to be honest theres no way to be sure until you test fit, but I'd think that they should clear.
The ones you sold to Ryan? I believe those are J30 wheels, right?
These are SLIGHTLY different from what I've been told on NICO. They're shaped differently around the spokes... Oh well, only one way to find out.
We'll find out when they get here.

Ahhh yeah, I saw those on NICO as well... Couldn't find a full set unfortunately. Plus I didn't want to cop Ryan's style THAT much, haha.
I just bought base Q45 wheels.

Paint 'em gold.
Definately weird looking, but they'll be great street wheels.
