Aftermath of EGR removal
Hey all,
I removed my entire EGR system yesterday and have experienced a rougher idle as a result. It by no means bothers me but I was just wondering if that was normal or if not, if there's anything I should do to fix it. Thanks a lot.

weird. could someone answer his question please. I actually just removed my egr about 1 hour ago. I removed all the hardlines, because my cruise control is gone as well, all the hoses, the egr valve or whatever on the intake mani, and the thing behind the power steering. I have one of those custom plates in the mail that, that guy used on the euro r manifold write up. I also capped the intake manifold where the hose went in. Am i going to be experiencing rough idle as well once i start driving my car? I won't until the plate is hooked up of course.
I made my own block off plate out of some thick sheet metal and removed all of the related components and capped the intake manifold. the idle rpm is the same but the engine vibrates a lot more.
i think it is just your imagination. Like changing the oil makes you think the car is running better. Youre worried you did something wrong thus you make up something to try and make you believe there is something negative about removing it, but its just in your head.

changing your oil doesnt really make a noticeable difference....if it does than you are waiting way too long to change it. but anyway when i removed my egr, i noticed no difference in idle. it still idled just as well.
put good synthetic it man. you get huge gains and hit the Z spot faster (zoom)
You fly up the rpms alot faster with good fresh clean oil my friend.
just like lube man, cant go super fast without good lube!

The real question is, why did you take off your EGR to begin with
because it takes up room in my engine bay. I have no emission standards so i do not care for it.

well...as it is...the EGR does not operate at idle, thus has no effect on your idle quality.
if the EGR WERE open at idle, your engine would idle very low or just die...
