MOB Works Paint
I have heard nothing but good things about them. I would guess since they do good work they would be pricey, but it shold be worth the money if you want a good job.

yeah, you can tell just by browsing their site. http://www.mobworks.com/ There was also a thread that dealt with this. https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=979863 that thread has ppl who have dealt w/ them. You pretty much hear the same thing, great work, make sure u want to spend decent money.
One of the guys I know told me how his friend paid almost $5k for a paint job there and they painted right over a pinstripe that was still visible afterwards... and MOB did nothing to warrant the work.
My friend's had stuff done there before and the paint's laid on really thin and chips really easily. He paid less than half the cost of retail because he's an aquaintance of Miguel, but he refuses to get any work done there now because of the hit/miss work.

i've seen one or two cars come out good, the rest are complete and utter ****. If your not one of there "boyz" they just take your money and don't put a ***** worth of effort into your car.
overspray all over the place, hack jobs on the door liners, dashboard/doors with overspray, dust everywhere, orangle peel in some places, just find a good local shop and do all the prep work yourself.

Yeah, they've gone downhill since they started getting big. I've heard about little **** too, like missing clips for trim pieces, etc. It's little attention to detail (or lack thereof) that would get to me. If you're not a good friend of them their work isn't all it's cracked up to be.
Wow. All I've ever heard about MOB Works were good things, so I'm surprised to hear that they fck around with your car. That's not good. Maybe I'll just take tha advice given up there and find a local paint shop and get it done there. Alright thanks for your inputs.
ive heard both good and bad about MOB. but thats too be expected with any buisness. ive heard a couple cases in the past of delamination. a guy up in portland a couple years back bought a car done by mob and the bumper was peeling pretty bad.
but the work ive seen has all been pics and hear say

Given their reputation and publicity they've got, I could only assume their prices would be high. As far as their work, I've only heard good things, until I read this thread, that is.

My friend who's got "connections" with them was quoted $5k for a colorchange, no engine bay included.

The 2 cars I have worked on that were painted by them both had unbeleivably soft clear coat, literally the softest I have ever seen. You look at it and the paint swirls

This is why it pays off to do some research on the automotive painting process. You need to know what brand and type of paints are out there and the prices. You should also know that for most Hondas a gallon of base and clear is enough product to adequately cover the car. If a shop says you need more than something is wrong and they just want your money.
Also make sure you guys go and take a tour of the facilities and see what equipment they are using. You obviously dont want to have them spray your car using a spray gun from Home-Depot. The spray booth should always be very clean! Get everything in writing and never pay up front unless you want your car to sit for 6 months.

I would recomend the exact thing. If the shop won't give you a "tour" of their shop, most likely it isn't a good shop and you need to go elsewhere.

A lot of good things people say about Mobworks is just what they hear from others. I don't think they're an amazing shop by any means. I had them do a simple job for me once and they fucked it up and wouldn't fix it.

Well, All I have to say to those who have "heard" bad things about MOBworks is that there can be very slight imperfections in every job. When it's your ride you will notice EVERY little imperfection, but to run a business they can't have someone going through every inch of a car with a magnifying glass. The price for the man hours would add to the overall price of the car.
Not only have I seen their work up close, but I had both body work and paint done by Miguel (Owner). Two of my buddies have also taken thier car in, with another one about to drop his car off. Miguel is top notch. My buddy pulled everything out of his engine bay, to have it color matched with the rest of his car, to cut down on the price. Miguel came to his house to give him some advice and point out a few details for him.
If anyone wants to see their work, hit me up, and I'll roll out.
Oh, yeah, for me, I had my rear driver quarter panel cut out with a new one welded in, then my whole care resprayed and clear coated, and it cost about $3500. When it was done, it looked like it just rolled off the showroom floor.

^^ Yea, there are soo many positives with MOB.
But every shop will have its negatives. Its how they deal with the negatives usually, is what people hear. Heres just one bad example:

Miguel is good people but there Prices are not for bargin shopper
and dont rush the job or your paint will come out rushed in the little details (this is the case for most shops). And if u want all the lil things done right, pull ur windows yourself and as many pieces as you can (i.e. lights).
Some people expect certain results for certain prices and its not realistic, if you want it perfect take the extra steps before bringing in the car, dont assume the painter will, no matter HOW GOOD THERE REP OR WORK IS.
just a lil 2 cents thrown in.
