Default I recommend this product...

I just cleared up my headlights big time with this two-step product from Meguiar's, AND I got all of the minor scratches off of my car! The cleaner works wonders and is completely safe to use on your paint for shallow scratches in the clearcoat. The headlights on my mom's 2001 Accord were oxidized so bad you couldn't see through them, and now they look brand new! I used only a terry cloth towel and lots of elbow grease. I could only imagine what an orbital buffer could do with this stuff. You don't need to let it sit or dry first, but just start cleaning.

I tried Meguiar's PlastX, but that doesn't do the job very well, at least when compared to this 2-step solution. You have to buy the bottles seperately and they're about $6.00 each at O'Reilly Auto Parts. This stuff does miracles!

Sounds like good stuff... Do you just clean with one and then apply the other to protect or something like that?

Sounds like it's worth a try. Have any pics of the headlights?

Use the cleaner, or white bottle, first. Then once you get the headlight as clean as you can, use the polish. You just rub it on. It's just like using a cleaner for anything else.

before

after

I'll take a better picture tomorrow if it's sunny, it started to rain when I took this pic. The clouds didn't do much justice for the headlight.

So...for the clear coat part, does it eat away a layer of clear coat? Or how does it get rid of the scratch ?

Nope, no sanding. Yes I'm sure what it does is eat a layer off of your clearcoat, but so does wax on your paint. As I mentioned above, this stuff is also safe to use on your paint for shallow scratches in the clearcoat.

I also have Meguiar's PlastX, but it didn't do that great of a job because it's a cleaner and polish all in one. Both of these professional grade products, also by Meguiar's, clean the headlights ALOT BETTER.

I found them at O'Reilly.

Let me know how it turns out. The more elbow grease you put into it, the better it cleans.
