Default NEED HELP ASAP!! crack block symptoms??? (hope not!!)

recent swap we did on buddy's hf crx, swapped in a d16a6 with high comp pistons, it was running great and VERY strong except for idle being jumpy for the past week, we put about 600miles on it already, and changed oil ect...., this mornin he drove it to class, and said that there is water coming out of his exhaust tip after driving the car.... could it be that the block has cracked? or what has happened.... the idle is still jumpy as it was previously....need help asap. thanks!!

sounds to me like it is just condensation, which is normal - unless it is a lot of water

doubt it - the only way to get water into the exhaust is with cracked head or blown headgasket - cracked head or blown headgasket would also have water in the oil

white smoke out the exhaust is actually steam from water getting into the hot combustion chambers

If the oil isn't milky you're probably fine.

take the valve cover off - if it has water in the oil, it will like like someone poured milk into it

ya, my point is, if water is dripping out of your exhaust , its most likely not coolant because it would smoke not drip out.

it would still smoke and not just drip out. when water hits somethign hot(exhaust) it creates steam.

Is it smoking or just dripping water? Water is a natural byproduct of combustion that why your exhaust system will rust out before anything else.

hmmm. we top off the water/coolant before the car ever gets hot... so dont know about that one...

another thing though is that the oil light comes on soon as the idle goes below 1k, it goes on, and soon as you hit 1k idle, the light turns off.... there have been a few times where the idle just dropped and the car shut off...

Like everyone says if you where burning water/coolant it would be smoking, not driping out. If you want to know for sure you could have a leak down test done on each cylinder. It is liks a compression test except it fills your cylinder with air and measures how much air is escaping, and where it is escaping to. As far as the oil light you could have many diffrent problems. It couls be a dent in the oil pan, a cloged oil pickup, bad oil pump, un-clearenced bearings during the rebuild, faulty pressure switch, etc.

Pull the head and have it pressure checked along with checking the surfaces to make sure it's not warped. Then put a new head gasket on.

I'd double check the dipstick along with the oil cap before going through that trouble though just to make sure it is milky. It should look almost a carmel color.

The block is almost never the culprit in situations like this. Only thing that could be wrong is the surface not being straight.
