What is this? i had to remove my ps, battery, rad, etc for a rad support replacement. I am now re installing everything and i was curious what this is for. It goes behind the power steering but i am clueless to what it is for. It looks like it has some vac hoses coming off of it. Do i need it anymore? I noticed a bunch of you guys don't have yours anymore. I gutted cruise control and A/C, this is why i am asking.

your EGR valve is located on the intake manifold (left side if looking under the hood) it recirculates "some" exhaust gases back into your engine, thus "so they say" making better emissions as well as robbing power from the engine. If you have 0 emissions laws, ditch it, plug the hole in the IM and put a block off plate in place of it on the IM... Then you can remove all the other stuff you pictured.

ook well if he is wrong some right info would help rather than just saying he is wrong. im going to read the helms when i get home.
I think he is referring to the fact that the spent gases being inert and actually lowering the temperature on the intake charge by recirculating actually gives you horsepower, but that's just from reading a little bit! my 2 cents

Ok thanks for the great news guys. I contacted the guy who makes those really nice custom egr plate covers and i should have one coming in the mail very soon. I just wanted to clean the bay up even more than i have. Got most of it repainted black so it should look even better now. I will post pictures when im all done in the picture thread. thanks guys
Just wondering... would removing an EGR valve improve mpg any or not? n00b question, I know... Just didn't know.
If I'm not mistaken, the EGR valve is open any time during any period that the car is not at wot, thus saving gas doesn't it?
I've heard of people removing it and getting the block off plate, what would this do?
